Website design is about creating an appropriate interface and all the graphic design. Those responsible for these tasks include: UX (or user experience) and UI (user interface). The website is the result of this work.
At first glance, the whole process of developing a website may seem complicated, but in most cases it is not. Whether the transfer of the site project to implementation will be easier or more difficult depends largely on the very concept of the site, its complexity and the way it is made – that is, the tool that will be used to create it.
To create your own website, you need to know about the very creation of a website, design methods and how to turn the design process itself into a pleasure, and maybe even a hobby that will bring great satisfaction to both parties (customer and contractor) – one will allow better introduce yourself to the recipients and the other will gain experience and develop their business in the web design industry.
Web design starts with a need or initial business idea. The next step, at this stage the design process already begins, is to determine the role that the website should play, that is, in short – its purpose – what it is intended for, what it should allow its owner to achieve, etc.
As you might guess, there are different types of websites and each one is useful for different purposes. Awareness of this one thing will allow the whole project to develop. Firstly, it will be much easier to decide what form the site should have, and secondly, how to build it technically (for example, the arrangement of elements, the navigation form) and what content should be on it (its form is text, graphic, video, etc.).
You don’t need to know every type of website, but you can check out some of the most popular ones:
Theoretically, the simplest website is a one-page site (landing page), because it requires only one page to be designed. While these sites are usually small and don’t have a lot of content, there are some exceptions. Most often they are used to collect contacts or collect traffic around a certain action, product or service. There is usually not much content on landing pages, so the purpose of the landing page is clearly visible. Very often they also do not have a menu and are created as a branch of the main page.
In turn, standard one-page sites are “stretched” regular sites. All information is placed on one long site. This is the so-called page scroll. It would be ideal if the users of such a site would be predominantly people using touch devices.
The most important content is always at the top. Such one-page sites have their own menu, but it does not apply to the following subpages, but only to the headings. Designing and then building these types of websites requires a special approach. Although they seem simple, they can be tricky. It’s better to start by creating pages from something else. Moreover, the design of such sites is most often associated with “regular” sites, because they have components that can be found on several types of websites. But, of course, you can set some kind of template with elements that should be considered when developing.
Of course, the full specification will vary slightly depending on the nature and theme, as well as the previously mentioned purpose of the site.
